Habemus Papam – Teaching and Playing the Politics of the Conclave with Designer Pako Gradaille
This Wednesday, join us for a special Teach & Play of the upcoming game Habemus Papam, taught by the designer himself, Pako Gradaille! I'll be joined by friends from the Homo Ludens Discord server as we dive into the intrigue, negotiation, and hidden agendas of a Conclave at a moment when real-world history echoes the game.
In Habemus Papam, published by Salt & Pepper Games, players lead Cardinal factions vying to influence the election of the next Pope. Balancing public profiles and secret agendas, we'll negotiate, scheme, and spend precious influence—our key resource and victory points—to sway the outcome in our favor. With strategic deduction and tense alliances at the heart of the game, every move could tip the balance between success and failure.
With the real Conclave set to begin soon after the passing of Pope Francis, there's no better time to look into this tradition where faith, power, and ambition overlap.
