A Lens On: Battle of Britain - EP.3 | Icons of the Sky: the Planes of the Battle
A Lens On is a documentary-style editorial series that uses our games to explore historical events, featuring interviews and insights.
The Battle of Britain was fought not just by brave pilots but also by iconic aircraft. In Episode 3, we explore the legendary Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane, two fighters that played a crucial role in Britain's defense.
While the Spitfire was faster and more agile, the Hurricane's durability and firepower made it the backbone of the RAF, responsible for over 53% of enemy aircraft shot down.
On the German side, the Bf 109 and Bf 110 fighters faced challenges in speed and maneuverability.
Meanwhile, British technological advancements, such as high-octane fuel and incendiary bullets, gave the RAF a critical advantage.
Featuring expert insights from historians Victoria Taylor and Paul Beaver, alongside exclusive commentary from the game's Lead Developer Jon Coughlin, this series reveals the strategy, innovation, and sheer courage that defined the battle.
A special thanks to the RAF Museum in Biggin Hill (UK) and to the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar for the opportunity to conduct our interviews.
