Halatafl – Were the experts wrong? Is it even a real ancient Norse game?

No one seems to know exactly what Halatafl was. To some, a version of the European game of Fox and Geese, and for others a jump-and-capture game akin to Alquerques or Draughts. Still others see it as a misinterpretation of Hnefatafl, the popular abstract strategy game.

In this video I'll present some of the evidence, and some of the speculations, as well as a how-to-play segment for the jump-and-capture version. (Even that comes with variations!)
