2026 Tabletop Scholars Conference - Board Game Academics

We're excited to announce the first annual 2026 Tabletop Scholars Conference, taking place at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, April 17-19, with a pre-conference date on April 16.

The Tabletop Scholars Conference is where educators, therapists, healthcare professionals, community builders, corporate trainers, and creative practitioners come together to unlock the power of commercially published tabletop games — and explore how they can radically transform learning, professional practice, and real-world engagement.

Across three days, professionals evaluate nominated, commercially available tabletop games to determine if they qualify for official BGA Accreditation — an endorsement granted only to games that demonstrate true value and impact within a specific field. When a game earns that accreditation, we promote it as a proven, recommended tool in that discipline.
