Eric has been writing for a living since 1997. He started out as a freelance writer for magazines and clients on a variety of topics, including board game-related pieces for Discover, Chili Pepper magazine, Sheep! magazine, and more.

In 2006, he began writing about board and card games full-time, including 15 years as the news editor at BoardGameGeek. In January 2026, he launched Board Game Beat, which publishes news, game announcements, and analysis of the tabletop game industry.
